Kontroversi Brentford vs Arsenal: Havertz Dituduh Berbohong

Liga Inggris: Brentford Marah dengan Wasit setelah Kekalahan dari Arsenal

Brentford’s players were involved in a heated tunnel row after their defeat to Arsenal and confronted referee Rob Jones over his failure to send off Kai Havertz, according to reports.

The Gunners dominated Saturday evening’s match and took an early lead through Declan Rice, though they were pegged back on the stroke of half-time when Yoane Wissa charged down a dithering Aaron Ramsdale.

Brentford twice went close to scoring in the second half but it was Arsenal who came out on top, with Havertz nodding in Ben White’s cross in the 86th minute to spark wild scenes of celebration.

The visitors were furious, though, having felt that Havertz should not have been on the pitch following a dive in the 65th minute.

Arsenal’s winning goalscorer had already been on a yellow card when he dropped to the floor inside the box despite there being no contact from nearest defender Nathan Collins, with referee Jones dismissing Arsenal’s optimistic pleas for a penalty but not punishing Havertz for a dive either.

Brentford were clearly unhappy on the pitch and pleaded with Jones to show a second yellow, and their frustrations boiled over at full-time after Havertz’s decisive, late impact.

According to the Mirror, Brentford’s players were seething as they left the Emirates pitch and made their way down the tunnel and let Jones know in no uncertain terms.

Collins was said to be furious with Havertz amid the row that erupted, with players and coaching staff ‘losing their tempers’ as they headed to the dressing room.

The Republic of Ireland defender was at the heart of the row and was reportedly heard shouting ‘f***ing disgrace’ and ‘cheat’ in the tunnel.

Referee Jones stopped near the top of the tunnel and spoke to the unhappy Brentford players, who were shouting and swearing, but did not include the incident in his match report – and, as such, no action will be taken by the Football Association.

Although Brentford’s players were visibly livid, it never went beyond a lot of shouting and accusations and the west London club played down the episode.

The officials were, however, eventually escorted to their dressing rooms by security staff before things slowly calmed down.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank said he could understand why his players were so put out afterwards, saying: ‘The performance was spot on. Even more impressive if you take into account Arsenal’s form, our form, our injury situation.

‘I actually don’t think Havertz should be on the pitch when he scored. It was a clear dive. Maybe it is difficult for the ref but the linesman should have seen it.’
